The first workshop for 2015 will be on Spore Prints and Pics, scheduled for the 29th of August. Members are asked to submit ideas for another workshop. Suggestions so far include “How to ID Small Brown Fungi” or a “Beginners Workshop”. For more details, go to our Calendar of Events.
Dominated by sandy soils typical of the Great Sandy National Park, the plants and their fungal mycorrhizal partners of Cooloola have had to adapt to these low nutrient soils. Dr Tony Young will be presenting “Toxic Fungi”. Tony is regarded as one of the foremost experts on Australian fungi, particularly toxic species. He is the author of “A Field Guide to the Fungi of Australia”.
The QMS Christmas party! Bring a plate of your favourite Christmas goodies to share and, if you wish, wear festive attire! It’s a time for celebration, so write and recite a poem about your favourite fungi. Show us an interesting fungal artifact. Show off your fungal arts and crafts!
