01/03/2009: Palm Grove National Park
Date: Sunday, 1st March 2009
Location: Palm Grove National Park, Palm Grove Avenue, Eagle Heights, Mt. Tamborine.
Leader: Ruth Thomson
Focus: A general survey of the area.
Mt Tamborine NP is the most northerly remnant of the Mt Warning volcanic lava flow. Palm Grove NP is one of its 13 sections and contains both a rainforest area with many piccabeen palms as well as a dry sclerophyll area with a grassy understory. Hopefully, this will provide a range of fungi.
It is proposed to walk straight to the dry sclerophyll area (about 2km) and work back from there through the rainforest area.
