The Workshop will cover such topics and answer such questions as…

Why collect specimens? – Where do they end up and what future lies ahead for them?
How do we collect specimens legally?
Why are photos not enough?
How to photograph specimens for the purposes of taxonomy.
How to decide if what you have found is worth collecting.
What is a good collection? – How much material do you need to collect?
Morphogroups and the different information required for each.
How to process a collection – methods of preserving and storing.
Making spore sprints.
Describing what you have found.
Microscopy and working with chemicals – when is it necessary and how to do it (basic).
Identification tools – Funkey, dichotomous keys and other methods of identification (basic).
