Linda Garrett is one of the Queensland Mycological Society’s regular foray areas.

The Linda Garrett Reserve is a short drive to the west of Mapleton, in the Blackall Ranges. The QMS undertake regular visits to the reserve which has a wide range of mature living trees and fine collections of logs and old tree stumps that support some rare and unusual wood inhabiting fungi.

For more information about the foray site, go to our page on Linda Garrett.

Due to some good rainfall on the Granite Belt, a weekend/double foray will be held in Girraween National Park on Saturday 11th of April and at Wilson’s Downfall on Sunday the 12th. These forays replace the scheduled visit to Cunningham’s Gap and we apologize for the short notice.

The Granite Belt has a very different environment to the QMS’s usual foray areas. The quartz and clay-based soils are nutrient poor and acidic, yet they support a rich diversity of plant and fungal species.

For information about some of Girraween’s fungal species, go to the unofficial Girraween National Park website.

For more information about this upcoming foray, go to our Calendar of Events.

Chermside Hills is one of the Queensland Mycological Society’s regular foray areas.

The term Chermside Hills may be understood in two ways – the reference to the hilly western regions of the suburb or to the largest of the three reserves, Chermside Hills, Raven St and Milne Hill. QMS forays could be held in any part of the three reserves. Many fungi of different types have been observed in these areas.

For more information about the foray site, go to our page on Chermside Hills.
