Grows on WOOD.
Common Name: Ruby Bonnet
Fruit-body: This very bright red little fungus appears in gardens after good rain. It is only about 5-10 mm diameter with a glossy, sticky cap, which may appear radially grooved. The gills are pink with a reddish edge.
Stem: Very slimy red stem about 25 mm long.
Spore print: White.
Habit: It may occur in large groups, or singly, and grows on twigs or even logs in moist places. Because of its colour it shows up very clearly.
